Studio

We offer beginning through advanced private instruction for students ages 6 through adulthood in the Jacksonville area.  The educational design that we implement is an effective methodology that incorporates all musical competencies and encourages discovery learning.   Our services our exceptional in that we demonstrate, drill, test, and provide written reports on student progress.  We ensure that each student has an adequate understanding of essentials before progressing to advanced levels.  We also believe that we offer a better learning environment for beginners as we teach from home studios which reduces distraction and anxiety.   We regularly tune our pianos which is essential for students to develop a good sense of pitch.

Multimedia Piano Studio emphasizes learning to read, memorize, and play music at sight.  At the same time,  we also believe that ear and rhythm training, transcription, improvisation, and ensemble skills are vital for ambitious piano students.  Therefore, to help prevent the development of bad habits (such as poor timing) arising from practicing primarily alone, we incorporate sound educational means including using multiple instruments, playing along to instrumental backing tracks, musical games, and interactive computer learning.  The result is a more interesting, more thorough, and more effective method.

A voluntary musical knowledge and performance assessment is available to accurately place intermediate and advanced students.  As soon as possible, we aim towards working on pieces that are oriented to what students want to learn, whether classical, pop, blues, or jazz.  Students are encouraged to take musical risks and to explore composition.  The studio provides optional recording of practiced or original material to CD in order to mark milestones in musical progress.  Each student is assigned their own private studio web page which provides information on weekly practice instructions, lesson comments, deadlines, useful online tools and resources, audio-visual demonstrations, message board, and recital information.  We even offer online support between lessons, six days a week!

Piano competence is the result of  a dedicated teacher, a comprehensive training program, and a student who is motivated to practice regularly.   Our likable teachers are professional, degreed educators willing to integrate technology with private piano instruction in order to increase interest and the speed at which pupils learn.  The primary intention is  to  make sure that each student receives professional musical training.  We consider these to be the some of the "keys" to success in playing the piano.  References are available upon request.
